Experts will unpack youth justice changes

Four prominent legal minds at the coalface of youth justice in Queensland will present at a seminar in Brisbane next week.

University of Queensland Professor Tamara Walsh; Queensland Family and Child Commissioner Natalie Lewis; Youth Advocacy Centre and QLS Children’s Law Committee chair Damien Bartholomew; and Beenleigh Magistrate Eoin Mac Giolla Ri will deliver Youth Justice in Queensland at the Banco Court on Thursday, 11 July.

Children’s Court of Queensland President Deborah Richards will chair the free one-hour seminar, which will begin at 5pm.

The panel will discuss what works in youth justice, and why recent amendments to youth justice law in Queensland could actually result in higher rates of youth crime.

The seminar is the second of the Current Legal Issues Seminars 2024 series presented by University of Queensland Law School, the Bar Association of Queensland and the Supreme Court Library Queensland.
