Amended PDs on use of electronic devices

Chief Justice Helen Bowskill has released an Amended Practice Direction 8 of 2014 – Photography and electronic devices in court buildings.

District Court Chief Judge Brian Devereaux SC has also issued a similar Amended Practice Direction 10 of 2014.

Chief Magistrate Judge Janelle Brassington has also issued a Practice Direction 1 of 2014 (amended).

The practice directions cover the use of phones and other electronic devices in and around courtrooms, including texting, recording, taking photos and other functions.

The practice directions are now in effect and repeal Practice Direction 1 of 2009 for the Supreme Court and District Court, and three practice directions for the Magistrates Court.
