New Ipswich office for women’s legal service

Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) will open an office in Ipswich next month to cater to an area of high need.

WLSQ Practice Director – Client Advice Meaghan Bradshaw said in the past financial year, WLSQ had helped close to 600 women living in Ipswich, Toowoomba and surrounding areas.

Ms Bradshaw said assistance was provided by phone; via a domestic violence duty lawyer at Ipswich Magistrates Court; and via advice clinics at Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre at Wacol, Southern Queensland Correctional Centre at Gatton, and Domestic Violence Action Centre at Ipswich.

She said an Ipswich office would allow WLSQ to expand its services to the area.

The service is seeking five advice lawyers experienced in family law and domestic violence (at least three years PAE), and one legal support officer.
