AAT end-of-year arrangements

The Migration & Refugee Division (MRD) and Immigration Assessment Authority’s (IAA) would like to advise of arrangements for December and January.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) recognises the receipt of an adverse decision can have a significant impact on vulnerable applicants over the end-of-year period and the limited availability of immigration advice and support services to assist these applicants during this time.

In line with previous years, the AAT and IAA has asked MRD members and IAA reviewers to refrain from finalising matters involving adverse decisions between Thursday, 21 December 2023 and Wednesday, 3 January 2024 (inclusive).

For MRD matters, members are advised to refrain from issuing hearing invitations during this period, with the exception of urgent matters.
