Courts will not accept Amex payments

American Express (Amex) payments are no longer accepted at Queensland Courts registries.

This decision, effective from 13 November, follows the Queensland Government’s recent banking procurement process and aligns with the new whole-of-government banking services contracts.

The Queensland Government Banking Services Procurement Project, initiated in late 2021, has delivered new contractual arrangements for the state’s banking services.

The banking arrangements are governed by the Financial Accountability Act 2009 and the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019, which require departments to use banking arrangements with financial institutions approved by the Treasurer.

This whole-of-government decision means customers will no longer be able to use Amex for payments at Queensland Courts. All affected systems are being updated to reflect this change.
