The Youth Justice (Monitoring Device Conditions) Amendment Regulation 2021 (the regulation) is subordinate legislation created under the Youth Justice Act 1992.
The regulation amends the Youth Justice Regulation 2016. It follows amendments to the Youth Justice Act 1992 made by the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2021 (the Amendment Act), which was passed by Queensland Legislative Assembly on 25 February 2021.
The Amendment Act introduced new electronic monitoring provisions, which allow courts to impose a monitoring device condition on certain young people when granting bail. The regulation prescribes the geographical areas for the monitoring device condition.
It commences on Monday 17 May 2021.
