A Queensland Health direction published today will allow fully vaccinated lawyers to attend clients in restricted aged care facilities for essential legal tasks.
The new Residential Aged Care Direction (No.8) includes “fully vaccinated legal practitioners” among those people permitted to access an aged care facility which is subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
However, it is only permitted in order to “undertake essential legal work that must be completed face to face”.
The inclusion follows a request made to the Chief Health Officer by Queensland Law Society President Elizabeth Shearer.
At this stage the exemption is only for aged care facilities and does not include other facilities such as hospitals or disability accommodation.
